During the semester we will broadly cover various dimensions of social research: research design, conceptualization and measurement, survey research, secondary data analysis, content analysis, interviewing, ethnographic research, and social experiments. We will also discuss the strengths and weaknesses of various research designs and their application to various types of research questions. The main objectives of this course are twofold: (1) To provide students with an opportunity to develop the critical thinking and inquiry skills needed to design and conduct social research.
