BanoffThe Tax Lawyer As Sumo Wrestler: Sayonara, or See You in 2019?Thirty years ago (February 1979), this writer, who was then a slim, young (age 30) overworked se-nior associate in a young but growing Chicago law fi rm, brashly commented in this magazine upon the state of the practice of tax law.1 We likened the modern-day (1979 version) tax practitioner to a sumo wrestler (for reasons described below).
